Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Controller to be in a key leadership position to participate in managing our rapid pace of growth. It is essential for the candidate to have the ability and experience to identify and implement process improvements and prepare the company for our next stage of growth. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of SaaS accounting and revenue recognition and a thorough grounding in GAAP. The candidate will have a proactive, hands-on approach and be able to effectively participate in cross-functional collaboration.
The Controller will support our financial operations, focusing on process improvements, policy establishment, and internal controls, as well as having primary responsibility for managing the accounting function and ensuring accuracy of financial statements and financial data.
This position reports to the CFO and is a member of the executive leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Act as a key partner to the executive team in financial planning and budgeting and provide financial insights and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Lead continuous improvement of financial reporting systems and automation of processes for scalability and data accuracy.
- Establish, implement, and enhance internal controls and a robust financial framework to support company growth and risk management.
- Provide a monthly dashboard of benchmarks of actual financial performance versus goals.
- Lead a strategic initiative to explore revenue opportunities by utilizing platform payment processing.
- Cash management and treasury functions.
- Oversee multi-state sales tax compliance, ensuring accurate calculations, filings, and adherence to state and local regulations.
- Oversee annual federal tax preparation in coordination with our outside tax firm.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in accounting (required)
- Certified Public Accountant (required)
- 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with a strong background in SaaS environments and high growth companies.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills with a track record of using financial data to drive business decisions.
- Knowledge and expertise in GAAP.
- Results and goal oriented, capable of working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- A demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and drive systems optimization.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in building, leading, and mentoring teams.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
